Khutso Theledi (born 23 March 1991) is a multi-award-winning radio broadcaster, DJ, voice-over artist, and MC. She is best known for hosting Breakaway with Khutso Theledi on Metro FM.

The radio presenter is also known as the spinning lady. She is one of the most recognizable voices on local radio. She joined Metro FM in 2022 and co-hosted the breakfast show with Mo Flava from 9 am -12 pm slot. Many love her catchphrase, “A hi fambeni”.

Early Life

Khutso Theledi was born 23 March 1991 in Mpumalanga. She attended boarding school from the age of five. She is one of the most anticipated voices on radio. Her mother is Tsonga and her father spoke Sipulan, mixture of Pedi and Tsonga.

From childhood, she demonstrated a deep passion for radio. She dreamed of entertaining and connecting to audiences with her voice. Her father died when she was two years old.

Education

Khutso Theledi did drama in high school. She left her studies at Monash University to join the Boston Media House. She studied Radio and Sound Engineering.

Career

Theledi first made her voice-over for Boston Media House. She is a DJ YFM. She captured the attention of many after prevailing as the face and presenter for Kasi Car Culture and Celeb Rides.

The radio presenter was a voice-over for Boston Media House in her first year. Her voice-over caught the attention of YFM. She got an invite to do a demo for a breakfast show. She did Break Away With Khutso Theledi LIVE from Salt Rock Beach in Durban in December 2023.

Khutso presents a weekday midmorning show on Metro FM after joining the station in 2022. She won three awards in 2023. 

Thedeli rose to fame after she joined Gauteng’s biggest youth radio station, YFM, in 2012. She co-hosted the breakfast show with Mo Flava and has spent over eleven years in the industry. She co-hosted on The Freeway.

The presenter has stayed on drive time to co-host The Raw Rush with Thulisa Kanzi. She hosted YFM’s Krunch Time and R&B Hot 9 9 chart. She did a cameo on Rhythm City. Mo Flava and Tumelo Diaho-Monaheng poached her while she was studying.

Khutso won the Creative Visionary Award at the 2023 Africa Tech Festival Awards. She also holds the Basadi In Music Award for Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year.

Khutso Theledi is married to her Italian boyfriend of four years. She announced her engagement to her partner in April 2023. She shared stunning pictures of her dressed in Sepedi traditional attire after her wedding, and her Italian fiancé paid lobola.

Her man asked for her hand in marriage while they were on a getaway at the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort in Mozambique. She is an introvert and a listener.
