Ngizwe Mchunu was born in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal.

Career

Mchunu is a former SABC’s Ukhozi FM presenter. The radio station fired him for allegedly breaching a confidentiality policy. He shared private station information with the public. 

After leaving the station, he launched Ngizwe Mchunu FM, his online station. It was broadcast first on 14 September 2019.

Ngizwe had a business relationship with JAC Motors SA. However, the official importer and distributor of the JAC brand of products terminated its relationship with him. It also recalled vehicle sponsorship. 

The company released a statement requesting Mchunu to return the sponsored bakkie. It attempted to distance itself from tribalistic and divisive utterances from Mchunu. They condemned these utterances.

Personal Life

Ngizwe Mchunu attempted to marry three wives. His first wife is Siphelele Nxumalo, his second wife is Lindiwe Khuzwayo, and his third wife is Floda Mthimkhulu. His first wife took him to court in 2014 in an attempt to nullify his civil marriage to his third wife.

His second wife, Lindiwe, announced that she wanted another husband. His third wife, Folda Grace Mchunu, revealed that she was no longer with him. They got married in 2015 but had no children together.

The Ukhozi FM presenter has doubled down on his recent anti-Julius Malema utterances, saying he will stop the EFF leader from campaigning in KwaZulu-Natal. In a viral video, Mchunu was heard saying KwaZulu-Natal belongs to Zulu people and that Malema must launch his party manifesto in his home province of Limpopo.

Mchunu is a supporter of former South African president Jacob Zuma. He is the alleged instigator of the July 2021 unrest

Randburg Magistrate’s Court acquitted him of all charges. He had maintained his innocence from the beginning. People in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng had disrupted and looted shops.

Ngizwe Mchunu made headlines for his ongoing feud with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema. He came under fire for his tribalism-fueled criticism of the EFF leader. He lost his contract with a car dealership in the process.

Ngizwe opened a case of assault against three men who attacked. It happened while he was holding a press conference in Durban in January 2024.
