Wandile Molebatsi (born 21 March 1991) is a South African actor, casting director, producer, and musician. He is best known for starring as the laidback tracker Blessing Dlamini in the soap opera The Wild.

The actor joined the movie industry as a child. He appeared in KTV, Born Free, and Cry. He starred in the mini-series When We Were Black in 2006. He owns a production company, Coal Stove Pictures.

Early Life

Wandile Molebatsi was born on 21 March 1991 in Soweto, Gauteng to Bishop Caesar KL Molebatsi. His father heads the Ebenezer Evangelical Church in Soweto. His mother is a social worker at the African National Congress (ANC).

Molebatsi is the third child of his parents and has three siblings. His older brothers are Lebogang Solomzi and Kgomosto Dumisani. He maintains a good relationship with his father and attends his church.

Education

Wandile holds a degree in drama and film at the University of Witwatersrand. 

Career

Acting

The actor has many television, film, and theatre credits. Although, he paused his early career in showbiz to focus on his studies. He played Modise in season one of the mini-series When We Were Black.

Wandile portrayed Tebogo in season one of the Netflix South Africa drama Diamond City. He played Lindelani in the SABC 1 mini-series Dream World and Haruun in season 12 of ER.

Other acting credits include playing Lawyer in Gauteng Maboneng, Mabitsela in Guilt, and Sports Journo in Hard Copy. He appeared as Wesley in season one of the SABC1 comedy Him, Her & the Guys.

Molebatsi plays Fanyana in season one of the South African youth drama TV series Hola Mpinji! He appeared as Vince in the SABC1 drama series iKani and as Celebrity 2 in Ingozi. He landed the role of Charlie the SABC1, Netflix South Africa drama series Intersexions.

The actor played Dingalo in Khumo, Lehuma le Kgosi: War, Sakhumzi in Kowethu, and Kagiso in Mzansi Love. He portrayed Samuel in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City and Duma in the e.tv soap opera Scandal!

Producing

Wandile founded the Johannesburg-based production company Coal Stove Pictures. The company produced the television series Guilt and the movie Hear Me Move.

Molebatsi was the executive producer of The Wife and What About the Boys. He was an associate producer of Verskietende Ster in 2015 and Silverton Siege in 2022. 

He was the producer behind Sucked In (2021), Ikani, Thula’s Vine, the TV mini-series Remix, and the TV movie Tooth and Nails: A Gospel Music Story (2012).

Music

As a musician, Molebatsi started in his father’s church when some teenagers formed the band Embryo. He has sharpened his djembe skills and other percussion instruments. He is currently a performer for the band Uju.

Wandile Molebatsi is married to Jessica Jane, a stylist and fashion designer. The couple has two kids – a son, Elijah Aruna, and a daughter, Onalenna.

They got married on 6 July 2013 and have been together ever since. His wife, Jessica Jane, comes from Durban. His father-in-law is German. He lives with his family in Johannesburg. He is an avid supporter of the PSL club Kaizer Chiefs FC.
